NFS is implemented in the kernel. It is primary attractive point in
networking file system of FreeBSD. Linux is still in userland, it is
slow and doesn't support NFS3/NQNFS, etc. Of course Linux is trying to
support kernel-level NFS, but it is premature and it will be stable in
2.4 kernel).

 see /sys/nfs,
 and /usr/src/sbin/nfsd, /usr/src/sbin/nfsiod, /usr/src/sbin/mountd
