갑자기 영어로 날라와서 누구신가 했습니다.

LinkSys 가 ISA card라면 이 카드의 irq, port 번호를 setup 해주는 dos용
프로그램이
있을 것입니다. 없다면 card 홈페이지에서 구해 보도록 하세요.
대부분의 ISA LAN card는 dos용 setup 프로그램이 있어서 사용자가 직접 irq,
port
번호를 지정할 수, 또는 현 설정 값을 확인할 수 있는 프로그램을 제공합니다.

i486이라면 PNP 지원은 안되는 것이 맞을 것 같습니다. 이 경우라면
BIOS setup 문제는 고려하지 않으셔도 상관없을듯 합니다.
또 하나의 문제 요소가 해결됐네요.
> The boot message about ed0 is: 'ed0 not found at 0x280'
메세지 그대로 port 280에서 LAN카드를 찾을 수 없다는 메세지 이니
문제 해결 방법은(제 생각) 두가지 밖에 없을것 같네요.
1. 위에서 말한 setup 프로그램을 구해서 irq, port번호를 확인 또는 수정후
kernel에서 잡은 설정값과 같게 만들어 준다.
2. 1번의 경우가 아니라면 가지고 계시는 LinkSys가 ed0 디바이스에서 잡을
수 없는 LAN card 인것으로 봐야 할 것 같습니다.
이 경우는 다른 디바이스를 사용해 보던가 아님 questions@FreeBSD.ORG
로 문의해 보세요.

ed0 가 인식이 됐다면 ifconfig -a 했을때 ed0 관련 항목이 출력될것입니다.
이때 위의 rc.conf 화일을 수정하셔서 ip, netmask를 입력해 주세요.
network_interface="lo0 ed0" <-- 수정
ifconfig_ed0="inet x.x.x.x netmask 0xffffff00" <---- 추가
