제 경험으로는 패키지로 설치했을 때 mySQL과 php간 연동이 되지 않았습니다.
apache 1.3.9+php에 mysql모듈을 인식시키기 힘들더군요....^^;

저는 컴파일을 해서 셋팅을 했습니다.
apache1.3.9 + php에 mysql모듈 인식방법을 알고 계시는 분은 
팁좀 올려 주시죠...
