XFreee86 4.0을 쓰려면 기존의 X를 다 지워야 합니다. 간단하게는

 rm -fr /usr/X11R6

하시고, /etc/make.conf에

XFREE86_VERSION=4

를 추가하시고 XFree86 4.0 패키지를 설치하세요. servers, libraries
등으로 나누어져 있는 패키지를 설치하시면 됩니다.

그리고 X에 관련된 모든 패키지를 다시 컴파일해서 설치하는 편이 좋을
것입니다.
