Pyun YongHyeon님께서 하신 말씀대로 xargs의 내용을 echo해본 결과
19k 정도에서 newline이 들어 가더군요.
19227, 19235, 19219, 19204등의 bytes마다 마지막에 newline이 들어가고 다시
시작 하더군요.
이결과를 보고 xargs man page를 다시 보니 눈씻고 찾아봐도 안보이던 아래
내용이 보이더군요 ;-(
--max-chars=max-chars, -s max-chars
Use at most max-chars characters per command line, including
the command and initial arguments
and the terminating nulls at the ends of the argument strings.
The default is as large as pos?
sible, up to 20k characters.

최대 약 120k characters 까지 가능하네요.
du에서 발생했던 문제 역시 --max-chars 제한때문에 발생하였습니다. (default
20k)
--max-chars 값 제한으로 xargs가 command 를 여러번 호출 하였습니다.
120k가 저한텐 아무런 도움이 안되서 다른 방안을 찾아 봐야 겠습니다. 역시 RTFM

p.s 무슨 제약사항이 있긴 한것 같은데 초보인 저는 도저히 헤아려지지가 않아
고수님들의 조언을 듣고자 FreeBSD 채널에 글을 포스팅 하였습니다.
