Just FYI: RFC-1884 was obsoleted by RFC 2373, which would also be replaced with draft-ietf-ipngwg-addr-arch-v3-00.txt as a draft standard RFC in the near future. Also, a separate document "draft-ietf-ipngwg-scoping-arch-00.txt" (I believe the 01 version will soon be available, though) might be useful to understand the scope architecture. > On Tue, 11 Apr 2000, Nora Parker wrote: >> I have read many books and papers on the addresses for ipv6 but still >> can't figure out exactly what the three different address on the eth0 are. >> Can someone give me quick explanation of the Link, Site and Global >> address? p.s. 6bone-jp@wide.ad.jp is not very suitable for such a specification-related question. The list is to discuss IPv6 network operation in Japan. I think the followings are more suitable: IETF ipngwg mailing list: ipng@sunroof.eng.sun.com IPv6 users mailing list: users@ipv6.org JINMEI, Tatuya Communication Platform Lab.
